Welcome to the Exceptional Children's Department
RESOURCE PROGRAMS AVAILABLE
All courses offered by the Exceptional Students’ Department are available to students who meet the North Carolina guidelines for placement. An Individualized Educational Program (I.E.P.) and placement by the I.E.P. Team is required.
Curriculum Assistance (CA)
This course is designed to provide additional academic assistance to students. Students may earn elective credit while receiving additional time and teacher assistance for assignments in any class. Organization, study skills, note-taking, and test preparation are also emphasized. Students must complete activities in math and/or literacy skills each day. This course is an elective course.
Curriculum Assistance PLUS (CA-P)
This course is designed to provide additional academic assistance to students. Students will receive teacher assistance for assignments in other academic courses. Organization, life skills, and study skills are also emphasized. Students must complete activities involving extensive literacy skills each day using a research-based reading program. This course is an elective course.
Curriculum Assistance SOLVE (CA-S)
This course is designed to provide additional academic assistance to students. Students will receive teacher assistance for assignments in other academic courses. Organization, life skills, and study skills are also emphasized. Students must complete activities involving extensive math skills each day using a research-based math program. This course is an elective course.
Curriculum Assistance LIFE (CA-L)
This course is designed to provide additional academic and functional assistance to students. Students may earn elective credit while receiving additional time and teacher assistance for assignments in any class. Organization, study skills, note-taking, test preparation, and social/emotional support strategies are also emphasized. Students must complete activities in social skills, employment skills, math, and/or literacy skills each day. This course is an elective course.
